No, that didn't happen "by chance,"

but it also didn't happen because of a "streak"...we didn't keep beating UVa because we beat them the year before or the 2 or 8 or 13 years before. Beating UVa in 2001 had nothing to do with beating UVa in 2015. We beat UVa 15 times because we were generally a better team and played better on those days than UVa...not because of history.

Just because 2 events are independent doesn't make the outcome of either "random."

Whether we have failed to win more than 1 ACC tourney game for 2 years in a row or 100 years in a row doesn't impact this year's tournament performance.
